The Arc Madison Cortland promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community. That's why it is so important that they be included in the new coronavirus relief package and they be prioritized for a COVID-19 vaccine.
Individuals with I/DD are at a much greater risk of becoming gravely ill if contracted with COVID-19. This is our chance to advocate that they must be prioritized in an equitable plan for vaccine distribution. Find out more here.
Additionally, Congress is actively negotiating the new relief package, which could pass in the next few weeks. Ask Congress to include these key provisions in the next bill:
Dedicated funding for Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS)
Personal protective equipment (PPE) for direct support professionals
Paid leave for all caregivers
Automatic waivers for Social Security COVID overpayments
Don't let individuals with disabilities be left out!
